Rabat - A cultural and artistic ceremony was organised on Friday in Rabat, in celebration of the Amazigh New Year 2975, with a view to promoting this heritage and enshrining the values of the plural cultural diversity of the Kingdom.
Organised by the Agdal-Riyad District Council in coordination with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) and the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM), this ceremony was marked by traditional Amazigh artistic performances drawn from the national heritage, as well as an exhibition of Amazigh plastic art, Tifinagh workshops, and an exhibition of books in Amazigh and Arabic.
Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Agdal-Riyad District Council, Abdelilah Idrissi Bouzidi, reaffirmed the council's desire to organise initiatives aimed at highlighting Moroccan Amazigh heritage and ensuring its promotion through cultural, artistic, and sporting activities.
He also made it known that the Agdal-Riyad District Council and the IRCAM are on the verge of concluding a partnership agreement aimed at promoting the integration of the Amazigh language.
For his part, the Rector of the IRCAM, Ahmed Boukouss, indicated that this agreement constitutes "a promising step" by offering a favourable framework for joint action, noting that such initiatives contribute to strengthening the implementation of the provisions of Organic Law 16.26 setting the stages for the implementation of the official character of the Amazigh language and the modalities of its integration into education and the various priority sectors of public life.
