The elite of tourism in conclave in Rabat to take stock of the progress of Vision 2020

The 11th edition of the Tourism Assises opened its proceedings on Monday in Rabat, to take stock of the progress of Vision 2020, which aims to continue making the sector one of the engines of Morocco's economic, social, and cultural development. The opening session took place in the presence of the Head of Government and several ministers, high-level foreign personalities, such as the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and national and foreign sector operators.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and the National Tourism Confederation, the 11th Tourism Assises aim to take stock of the progress of Vision 2020 and the main achievements during the last four years. A framework for exchange and consultation between the public sector and national and foreign private tourism operators, the Tourism Assises aim to maintain the dynamic of consultation, sharing, and mobilisation of all actors around the strategic objectives of the Moroccan tourism sector.

The work of the 11th Tourism Assises will be structured around two panels focusing on the “emergence of tourist territories” and “financing and investment in the tourism sector.” A particular emphasis will thus be placed on the challenge of bringing out eight competitive and complementary tourist territories with clear positioning offering a good balance between seaside-dominated destinations, cultural destinations, and nature destinations.

The participants will also debate the challenge relating to the realisation of this national ambition and regional ambitions which involve the implementation of a targeted product strategy allowing the emergence of a diversified and quality tourist offer meeting the needs of tourists.
